Self-forming screws in the automotive industry
What challenges do we face by using the self-forming screws in the serial production of the modern EPS steering systems?
In modern constructions, there are many points where designers apply the self-forming screws. In principle, this is a very convenient solution for production and specifically, for the assembling
processes. In this article, I would like to present some challenges we face when using such a solution. Additionally, based on my own experience gained in the production of EPS steering systems, I want to present some hints on how to deal with the production problems related to screwing processes.
